South Africa v Kazakhstan

South Africa (6) v Kazakhstan (3)

It's a hard task to follow the euphoria of a Denmark victory on Pitch 1; the raucousness of the home crowd gives way to a more subdued atmosphere and indeed the first half between these two sides was low key. South Africa came from a goal down to take an unexpected 2-1 lead before the Kazakhs belted in a spectacular equaliser just before half-time.

A brace of South African goals 90 seconds into the second period livened up affairs. This was followed by another snuck in on the angle. South Africa had Kazakhstan on the rack with patience, acrobatic skill, sensible defending and fantastic goalkeeping. Thirty seconds to go and South Africa were 6-3 ahead. A four goal win would see them top their group. Such was their dominance you expected it to come at any moment. It didn't, but they were still well worth their win and will be a team to watch in the final stages.
