GREECE survived a marathon penalty shoot-out against South Africa to notch its first win of the tournament.
 
Sicelo Mraji scored the the match's first goal, after South Africa caught Greece with a quick free kick that was finished with a shot at the back post.
 
A minute later, Greece were able to equalise after a quick pass found Fotios Lazarou with only the keeper to beat.
 
South Africa ended the first half on a high scoring two goals, giving them a slight advantage going into the second half.
 
Immediately after the restart, the South Africans stretched their lead to three goals, as a Luvuyo Mehlo shot  found the roof of the net.
 
The Greeks found their passing game once again and piled on three goals in three minutes, drawing level with South Africa.
 
South Africa were given every chance to win in the last minute of the game, but were unable to take advantage of not only two penalties but a man advantage after Fotios Lazarou was shown a blue card, requiring him to leave the field of play for two minutes.
 
With no further goals scored in normal time, the match went to a sudden death penalty to decide the match.
 
Both teams scored their first penalty kicks, but missed the next four penalties.
 
Greece were finally able to win the game after a fifth shot by South Africa was missed and the Greeks nailed a shot.
