Sweden began this game much in the ascendancy but Slovenia had other ideas than to roll over and accept defeat. Like a lover refusing to give up the object of their desire Slovenia were relentless in looking to overcome any obstacle in their way. Even a four goal deficit.
By the time three and a half minutes had elapsed in this game the Slovenians looked all out at 0-4 to Sweden but they were not to be stood up in the aim to find victory. They quickly pulled a goal back and that was rapily followed by two more strikes to make the score 4-3. Sweden then realised they had better step it up again to find true victory and hit another goal to slightly dampen the Slovenians spirit. Undeterred by animosity, like a modern day team of Romeos Slovenia they pulled it back to 5-4, then equalised, then miraculously, took a 6-5 lead.
From that point the Slovenians believed victory was theirs and the more they tried the more they found success as they strode through the final minutes of the game to win 8-5. Like a Shakespeare sonnet this was captivating stuff!
