Slovakia v Germany
Slovakia (1) v Germany (6)
Germany and Slovakia saw eye to eye for the seventh and eighth place of the Cape Town Trophy, one of the prizes available to the teams playing in the Homeless World Cup 2007.
Germany quickly took the lead scoring twice in the space of just above a minute, leaving Slovakia struggling to get its acts together more and more as Germany stretched its lead by two further goals. At this stage, this match looked increasingly doomed to boredom. It was a case of Slovakian enthusiasm versus German focus and skill.
Those in need of some entertainment could however turn to the colorful crowd of German supporters- bewigged and sporting long hats and feathers the colours of the German flag- they set the tempo for the first and second part of the game.
Just as the the second part of the game opened, and the Germans scored two more times, this match felt like a show with one performer and just as the all German pattern started to become established, an onlooker leaped into the pitch.
Unfortunately for those who hoped in some entertainment to break the boredom of the match, the intruder only offered his bare bottom by way of amusing the crowd. the incident at least spurred the Slovakians into actions. The team already seemed more focussed at the beginning of the second half and staged a few attempts to re gain some lost ground. its efforts were rewarded once but only once.
The trouble for the Slovakians was that Germany meant business and knew how to carry its plan to effect, scoring twice more by the end of a game, whose only distinction was the involvement of the Danish retired professional referee Kim Milton.
