A great start by Scotland saw them build an early 2 goal denying Portugal an early penalty as well. The captain smashed two quality right foot finishes reminiscent of Hot Shot Hamish.
The Scottish keeper not to be outdone had an outstanding game and kept Scotland ahead with a series of fine saves.However Portugal fought their way back into things and were not intimidated by Scotlands greater physical presence in fact they were very fast and strong.....and they fought their way back to a 2-3 lead. Scotland were unlucky to hit the post and the half time whistle blew.
The Scottish captain was then blue carded early in the second half for a mis timed challenge unfortunately right in front of the referee...this changed the complexion of the game and the Portuguese dominated the 2nd half running out 2-6 winners.
The Portuguese were ecstatic and their team spirit is obvious to see.....with some truly jubilant post match celebrations.
