The Philippines defeated Rwanda, 8-5, in an energetic and fast paced match played on Federation Square.
The Rwandans were in with a chance at victory but couldn't penetrate their attacking zone, letting the Philippines pounce to seal victory.
Longgatik started the game on fire for the Philippines, with an excellent strike across his body from the top of the goal circle.
Rwanda replied quickly with a powerful strike from the mid-line wizzing past Lagundino in goals.
The Philippines through De Jesus went out to an early lead thanks to a penalty awarded against Rwandan keeper Ndayisenga.
In response the Rwandans quickly converted when Niyongabo deflected a shot off the side board into goal, and Gakuba found a gap and slotted a goal from deep in the left corner.
But through teamwork the Philippines' De Jesus and Longgakit regained the lead, with the score at 4 – 3 at half time.
Solis converted the goal of the match to start the second half, with a superb slice across his body going into the right side of the net.
Longgakit chimed in with another goal and the Philippines were out to a two goal lead.
But Rwanda would not go away with two goals to Gakuba, including a fantastic long range shot from behind the mid line drawing the scores to 6 -5, in the Philippines favour.
The Rwandans had the momentum but could not get the ball out of their defence, consistently passing back to goal keeper Ndayisenga to keep possession.
This defensive play suited the Philippines and Elequio was rewarded for hard tackling and harassment with two late goals.
