Rwanda (12) v (2) Malawi

Malawi may have lost 12-2 to Rwanda today but they won the hearts of the crowds after a spirited performance by their goalkeeper, Australian reserve Vannie.

Rwanda began strongly, with star player 'DJ' scoring a cheeky goal though the legs of a defender.

Malawi equalised with a penalty but the Rwandans were determined to take the lead and be in the contention for the Host Cup.

Valiant Vannie in goals took on some brave one-on-one battles with DJ but was not able to block the cross passes to attackers down the wings.

But this did not dishearten Vannie, who received a loud reception from the stadium at Federation Square.

The security of a 6-1 lead at half time did not slow down the pace of the Rwandans who continued to take mega shots from the half way line.

Vannie set up a goal for Malawi after a terrific strong throw, bringing the result to 12-2.
