Romania (9) v (2) Philippines

Romania (9) v (2) Philippines

By Emily Day

Romania were at the top of the game today, defeating Philippines 9-2 in a spectacular showcase of skills at the Yarra pitch.

Romanian's star forward Pavel Calancea was in fine form, putting away the first goal in seconds and following it up with three more over the course of the match.

The Philippines did their best in defence, but the well-organised Romanians eluded them time after time to take six goals before the half time whistle.

The second half opened much the same as the first, with Calancea putting away a carefully considered goal into the right pocket of the net.

The Philippines stepped up their defence, with Rondolf Longgakit giving the Romanian's a lot of trouble.

Philippines Jeffrey Burdeos Solis gave the team their first goal, while team mate Jay De Jesus exhibited his fine striking skills which were unluckily snuffed by the talented Romanian keeper.

Calancea showed us his skills once more before the end of the match, stealing the ball and taking a considered slug at the net which ended the match 9-2 to Romania.
