Poland (6) v (9) Scotland

Poland (6) v (9) Scotland

By Eleni Psaltis

SCOTLAND skimmed a win against its arch-rivals, Poland, 9-6 after a fast-paced and relentless match.

A penalty and an early goal gave Poland a 2-0 lead in the first minute.  But the Scots soon returend the favour, equalising 2-2 after a cheeky through the legs shot and a hand ball penalty.

Now on even ground again, Scotland kept its cool with stunning flat ball passes in the attacking half.

Poland kept shadowing the forwards but to no effect as the Scots maintained control, passing between the centre and wings until an opportunity opened for a shot on goal.

The 4-2 lead frustrated Poland causing them to be more rough in their tackles.

Their over-physical approach and shirt-holding did not affect the Scots - who continued to widen the goal margin.

Poland scored three more goals in the second half but Scotland never tired ... putting the nail in the coffin with a 9-6 result in the dying seconds.
