Poland struck hard and early in this key Group One clash with Portugal. Two goals inside the first minute was a measure of their muscular approach to this Homeless World Cup. The slighter Portuguese are no slouches though, and, despite the goals, weathered the early storm and gave as good as they got, beating the impressive Tomasz Figlarz. in Poland's goal four times to find themselves only a goal down at the break.
Figlarz beat out three great efforts. A sixth Polish goal looked to have buried Portugal, but they stuck to their task and an exquisite equaliser from Ricardo Barbosa, who shaped to pass across goal, waited for Figlarz and the defender to commit and calmly rolled it inside the near post. So to penalties - Diogo Ferreria saved for Portugal from Poland's Norbert Antoszewski . Mario Andrade made no mistake to give Portugal a thrilling victory.
