The Philippines grabbed fifth spot in the Community Cup after an impressive 5-3 victory over Namibia.

In a fast-paced and entertaining contest, both sides displayed good skills with niether side able to dominate possession early.  The first big chance came from Namibia’s, Tasha, he was denied twice by the wood-work.  It wasn’t until the fifth minute that Tasha finally got one past the goalkeeper.

The Philippines captain, De Jesus, who worked very hard throughout the first half, managed an equaliser just before the whistle.  It was 1-1 at halftime.

The game continued to be an open contest in the second half, with De Jesus playing a big part in three first minute goals for the Philippines.  4-1 down, the Africans kept coming, but the Philippines goalkeeper, Solis, was up to the task, saving some great efforts from both Tasha and Mina.

Midway through the second half, the ball fell at Tasha’s feet and he popped the ball behind Solis.  He made it 4-3 seconds later with his hat-trick, and the Namibians were right back in the contest.

The Philippines tried to play keepings-off, but the Africans were inspired.  Brilliant defending by Ron and De Jesus consolidated their slender lead, before De Jesus added another against the run of play, sealing the win.
