Nigeria v Kenya
Nigeria (8)v (1) Kenya
The sun came out for this Pitch 1 fixture between two of the best sides in the tournament. And the sunshine extended to the players as they greeted each other warmly before kick off. Even South African referee 'Shoes' entered into the spirit, sporting a fetching multi-coloured wig - at least until it got too hot under all the pink nylon early in the second half.
The game saw Nigeria emphatically assert their position as HWC favourites both on the pitch and with the crowd. Their powerful brand of decisive attacking play has seen them undefeated in this stage of the competition and pundits are starting to wonder who can challenge them. They sped into an early 2-0 lead with a cheeky lob followed by a slice of luck as the ball rebounded off the hoardings onto the Kenyan keeper's back before rolling over the line. But the pick of the eight goals here was the last, a sensational piece of skill from No.10 Simon Okwori to close out the contest and underline his side's credentials. Have we seen the winners?
