India proved too strong for New Zealand today, defeating the team with an impressive 10-4 on the scoreboard.
New Zealand was always looking forward with the player's eyes fixated on the ball, a tactic which paid off when they netted their first goal after two minutes.
Hot on their heels, India searched for a chance to equalise and succeeded with a superb goal from Deepak Shyam Ho.
But the real action unfolded after the five minutes mark.
New Zealand began with a goal from the left corner pocket, putting them in the lead at 2-1. India fought back and scored two goals within thirty seconds, one resulting from a lucky penalty shot.
It looked as though the game could belong to either team when New Zealand kicked the final goal of the first half, taking the score to 3-3.
The sides were evenly matched for the second half, with no balls netted for the first two minutes.
Then New Zealand chased down the first goal of the second-half, with player John Love putting the team in the lead at 4-3.
But the Indian side was too strong, with Ho’s exceptional ball skills helping the team to score a powerful three goals in thirty seconds.
India closed the match with a sneaky left-foot shot, claiming the match with a six point lead.
This victory will see India keep their place ahead of New Zealand in Group B.
