THE HOMELESS World Cup’s Nike Player of the Day, Tony Pires, lifted the Netherlands to a heroic 4-3 victory over South Africa in the City Cup quarter-final today.

South Africa gave the Netherlands an unexpected first goal through an unlucky sideboard deflection that the scrambling keeper couldn't contain.  The Netherlands then added another two goals before the South Africans scored one of their own.

Two quick goals early in the second half tied the teams at three goals apiece and stellar goalkeeping kept both teams in the game and the crowd on the edge of their seats.

With less than a minute to go and after a narrowly-missed back-to-goal scissor kick  from Giovanni Kortstam, the Netherlands found the back of the net for the fourth time and held on to secure the win.
