TIMOR Leste and Namibia played off for their first win of the second stage. In an open contest, it was Timor Leste who took the points.
A close first half had Namibia playing well, however the Timorese gained control in the second, running out winners 8-3.
It was Timor’s Amaro who was the difference in the contest, setting up the first goal of the game with a great rebound off the back wall for a teammate to slot the ball into an open goal.
Namibia rallied and took the lead 2-1 midway through the first half. They tried to slow the game down with patient passing, however it was to no avail, as Amaro equalised with a powerful strike. He then put Timor Leste in the lead with his hat-trick, before saluting the vocal crowd.
It was 4-2 at half time and it could have been more, except for great play by the Namibian goalkeeper, Kiri Kiri.
In the second half, Namibia had plenty of chances early, but it was Amaro again, who netted one, giving Timor Leste a three goal lead.
Timor Leste continued to pepper the goals, Kiri Kiri was up to the task until Amaro came back onto the pitch, scoring another three goals to make his tally seven for the day, a great performance.
