Chile remains at the top of the Group G after defeating Mexico 7-5 at Federation Square.

Mexico looked dangerous early on, scoring the first two goals but Chile's strong defence ensured counter attacks that delivered.

At 2-2 Chile continued on the attack, netting a third goal.

But Mexico refused to go into defensive place, slowly building up the pace in the centre of the pitch and reserving their energy due to the sweltering conditions at the pitch.

Their slow build-up paid off with another goal to bring them equal with Chile.

This set the trend for the rest of the match with Mexico allowing Chile a one-goal lead - before equalising yet again.

But time was running out and Mexico could not afford to keep chasing the score board.

There were more aggressive one-on-one battles in the attacking corners as each side tried to take the lead.

But Chile's Cristian gave hope to the the tiring side - skipping down the centre after a clumsy cross goal pass by the Mexicans.

The two goal lead at 6-4 gave the Chileans a burst of energy - taking possession for the rest of the match.

Juan Felix Buenrostro shot back for Mexico in the dying seconds of the match but the whistle blew with victory in the hands of the Chileans.
