The rain came down. The surface got slippery. In the spirit of the HWC both sides exchanged pennants. That's where the generosity ended. Ghana took no notice of the conditions and belted in eight brilliant goals in the first half. The Ghanaian band drummed away in the stands non-stop. The shell-shocked Lithuanians didn't know what hit them. They bravely battled and scored twice.
They started the scoring in the second half, but Ghana had clearly not finished. The goals rattled in for Ghana until their score was in its teens and yet their goalkeeper was still somehow a contender for man of the match with a string of brilliant saves.
