Zambia look set to move into second position in the Women's Homeless World Cup group rankings after a hard fought match against Liberia at Yarra pitch on Thursday. The match was a tough physical battle as both teams came to the pitch meaning business. In the end, however, it was Zambia who triumphed over Liberia, 4-1.

Namafe of Zambia scored the opening goal with a low driving shot that cut across the goal.

Liberia's keeper, Morris, must have thought she'd stopped a mid-range strike by Mpundu, but the flying shot bounced off Morris' leg only to bounce into the net, leaving Zambia up 2-0.

Zambia followed with a quick goal to bring their tally to 3.

Liberia jumped onto the scoreboard seconds before half time after a fumble by the Zambian keeper: 3-1.

At the opening of the second half, both teams were determined to improve on their first half efforts and pulled out some impressive plays, trying to outdo their opponents.

Zambia and Liberia fought voraciously, applying equal and opposite pressure that resulted in some interesting action but no goals.

An attempt by Davies of Liberia almost produced but just skimmed over the crossbar.

Finally, Daka capitalised on a loose ball for Zambia to give them a three goal lead, 4-1.

The Liberian keeper, Morris, was dominating her goal in the second half – closing off any and all gaps during a barrage of Zambian attacks.

Liberia was pumping out the shots as they searched for a second goal, but Zambia's resolute defensive line proved unbreakable. Final score, 4-1.
