A successful penalty conversion has given the Liberians a win over Colombia after the match was locked at 5 goals each at full time.
The first goal of the match went to the Colombians, after a quick throw by the stand-in Liberian goalkeeper Miki Kobyashi, Juana Caicedo found herself with room at the top of the goal area and made no mistake in the finish.
Liberia were able to equalise from the restart, Dehkontee Sayon collected a throw from her goalkeeper and from just within her attacking half smashed a powerful shot into the top corner of the goal.
After a foul was awarded to the Liberians on the halfway line, they were able to take advantage of a lapse in concentration by the South Americans and score a goal from the boot of Goi Bendu.
Colombia scored two quick goals on the break late in the second half to take a goal lead, but were lucky to hold onto it before the break with a barrage of shots from Liberia unable to hit the target.
From the restart Liberia kept up the pressure with a series of shots threatening the Colombians goal.
Liberia equalised and took the lead minutes later with goals to Veronica Davies and Dehkontee Sayon.
The lead then was swapped between the teams through the second half until the final minute, with the scores locked at 5 a piece both teams had a chance to secure the win with shots that sailed over the bar.
Penalties were required to find a winner in the match and after Sayon was successful in her attempt the Colombians missed their shot and the match went the way of Liberia.
