Kyrgyzstan remain undefeated in their campaign for the 2008 Women's Homeless World Cup after beating Paraguay, 7-3 today.
After triumphing over Australia's women's team at Federation Square stadium yesterday, Kyrgyzstan seemed to have their work cut out for them as Paraguay dazzled onlookers with their impressive football skills.
Kyrgyzstan managed to score early on but the competition was fierce as Paraguay's keeper deflected shot after shot. Kyrgyzstan's keeper Oksana was equally impressive as she denied a penalty attempt from Paraguay.
One of Paraguay's strikers who remained an absolute powerhouse the whole match, scored from a near impossible angle to level the scores, 1-1.
But a penalty gave Kyrgyzstan the opportunity to pull ahead once more, and pull ahead they did.
A great save by Paraguay's keeper prevented Kyrgyzstan from increasing their winning margin and some crafty footwork allowed Paraguay's striker to find the bottom corner of the net. The teams went into half time tied at 2-2.
Early in the second half, Kyrgyzstan's most prolific goal scorer kicked one in right on the edge of the keeper's arc. She followed up with a nearly identical shot only seconds later. The score was now 4-2 in Kyrgyzstan's favour.
Paraguay’s star forward was a true all-rounder and managed to scare Kyrgyzstan in both offence and defence. Even so, Kyrgyzstan managed another two goals in quick succession to bring the score to 6-2.
Paraguay's star striker pulled out a fantastic shot to show they weren't going down without a fight and bringing the margin back to three goals. Kyrgyzstan were unflinching in their attack, however, and breached Paraguay's goal once more before full time to bring the final score to 7-3.
