Kenya (11) v (3) Hungary
By Emily DayThe Kenyan goalkeeper knelt down for a quick prayer before the start of the match against Hungary at the Yarra Pitch today.
It may have been divine intervention, but its more likely that Kenya's superior foot skills and powerful strikes are to thank for their 11 -3 win.
Kenya's first goal went in after the opening seconds of the match.
Hungary used swift passes in an attempt to get past the fleet footed Kenyans, but it wasn't long before an airborne goal from Elijah Kariuki, made the score 2-0.
Great interplay between the Kenyan side led to their third goal.
Hungary the delivered a magnificent strike from the corner which found the back of the net.
But Kenya kept up their good work, fixing on a method of play which involved swift passing amongst themselves creeping up towards the goal until a powerful smash gave them their next goal. They led at the half 6-2.
The second half saw Kenya once more slotting through a goal in the opening seconds.
Continuing their winning formula of controlled passes building up to powerful strikes, the unruffled Kenyans dominated the second half despite the defensive skills put forward by the plucky Hungarians.
The final whistle blew with Kenya leading 11-3, seeing them confortably in second place in the Group D table, while Hungary is in fifth place.
