India (11) v (4) Cambodia

India (11) v (4) Cambodia

INDIA thrashed Cambodia 11-4 at Federation Square to maintain its position behind first-placed Argentina in Group E.

Cambodia had the roll in but India soon took possession - and took charge of the game.

Assertive passes between Sawan Nigam and Deepak Shyam Ho delivered the first goal.

The pace fastened but not to India's advantage - with most kicks wasted on the cross bar.

But their skills compensated for this - giving them a 4-1 score at half-time.

Cambodia's two Australian reserve players, Patrick Syah and Dave Miles, kept their side in play creating opportunities down the right wing.

Under Homeless World Cup rules, if a team is missing players, they can call on a reserve from the host nation reserve team – consisting of 10 players including two goalkeepers.

Miles' cross from the far left corner was intercepted by Chhoun Ly Wat Lek who skipped through the centre with a brilliant goal off his shoe laces.

Lek's petite build worked to his advantage as he weaved around the legs of the defenders.

An off the wall rebound fell to Lek's feet again as he scored Cambodia's third.
