By Stephanie RhodenHUNGARY has beaten Hong Kong 7-5 in a thriller, with the two bottom-placed sides battling it out for pride in their Section 1 group.
The first half saw some ferocious one-on-one play along the pitch walls, with wide shots and constant attacks on the net resulting from the frenetic play.
Hong Kong's Chi Keung scored first with a mid-pitch shot barrelling into the bottom left of the goals, but Hungary equalised almost instantly then took the lead.
Chan Wan Sing hit the cross-bar for Hong Kong, but Hungary's Bela Kiss converted to give his nation a 4-2 lead going into half-time.
After two minutes of hard-fought football Hong Kong put away a goal to set up a thrilling second half that was destined to go down to the wire.
They scored twice in a row to climb back and tie the scores at 5-5.
With the clock running down the sides were trading shots, with each team pressing to score before a goal from Zsolt Szenasi, then a superb airborne save by keeper Horvath Zoltan put the game the way of the Hungarians.
They made sure of the win in the dying seconds, coming away with a well-earned victory.
