Greece (5) v (3) Malawi

GREECE has defeated Malawi 5-3 in a tightly fought contest on the Yarra Pitch.

It was a game of two halves, with Greece's dominant first half enough to overcome Malawi's second-half revival.

Greece flew out of the blocks with a goal after 10 seconds by Tsalatsanis, who capitalised on a deflected block by the Malawi goalkeeper.

Greece continued its attacking style, with two more goals by Tsalatsanis helping them to an early lead.

Malawi's Kasiya was threatening in attack sending two blistering strikes towards Greece keeper Petropoulos, the second resulting in a goal.

With the score 4- 1 Greece's way at half-time, Malawi need to regroup to force a contest.

And regroup they did, through a goal to Liwindo, followed by a fantastic finish from the tight left-hand corner by Richard.

But time was not on Malawi's side as Greece kept possession to defend its 5 – 3 lead.

Excellent goalkeeping by Greece's Peteropoulos and Malawi's Chirwa prevented either side from scoring in the dying seconds of the match.
