GERMANY has held onto its top-three ranking in Group D after defeating Lithuania, 8-4, at Yarra Pitch on Friday afternoon.
While not the best outcome for Lithuania, the loss has not been too much of a setback for them as the team remains in equal fourth place in Group D.
The opening minutes of the match was an entertaining struggle of end-to-end action with both teams peppering the goals but failing to score.
Iwan, who scored six of Germany's eight goals, landed the first goal of the match.
Jurevicius equalised for Lithuania after capitalising on a German fumble.
Both teams continued to battle it out as the match entered a stalemate.
Iwan broke the deadlock after smashing a rebound straight to the back of the net. Germany managed one more goal before half time.
An interception by Iwan resulted in another goal for Germany. Tvirbutas led a strong counter-attack for Lithuania to score their second goal.
Skirmantas brought Lithuania back into the game after a speeding long-shot.
Iwan continued his goal-scoring rampage to return Germany's two goal buffer.
A great scissor kick from Leichert almost increased Germany's lead but Lithuania's keeper Stamulis brought the flying ball safely to his chest.
Helliger delivered a great cross to Leichert, who brought Germany's tally to seven.
Tvirbutas scored Lithuania's final goal while Iwan capped off Germany's impressive performance with his sixth. Final score, 8-4.
