What is the time commitment for volunteers?

Most volunteer roles will be shift-based during the event period (30 November–7 December.) A normal volunteer day will be eight hours, including breaks, and will be a morning or afternoon shift. There are also opportunities to volunteer in our office during the lead-up to the event. Shifts are flexible within normal business hours.

Do I have to be a certain age to volunteer?

Volunteers need to be at least 18 years of age on 30 November 2008.

Do I need any special skills to be a volunteer?

We are looking for volunteers who are enthusiastic and dedicated. We will have some roles that require specific skills such as languages other than English, event management and medical qualifications. If you have any skills you feel may be useful, be sure to let us know on your registration form.

What sorts of roles are available?

A variety of volunteer roles will be available across every aspect of the event including Information Officers, Medal Presentation Assistants, Marshals, Administration Officers, Referees and Physiotherapists. Every effort will be made to assign you to a role that matches your interests and skill base.

What will be provided for volunteers?

As a volunteer for the Homeless World Cup you will be provided with a uniform and accreditation pass that you will be required to wear at all times while performing your role. You will also be provided with appropriate food and refreshments during your shift and any equipment you may require.

Will training be provided?

We want to ensure that you can perform your role with confidence and as part of our support will provide general and role-specific training. Further information regarding the dates of these sessions will become available closer to the event.
