Changing lives through a movement called football

I started with conducting matches for slums in our area, to keep them from bad habits. But today 7 years later it has reached a national proportion. Our pilot project YOUNGSTARS has been well received with nearly children from 4 villages taking part. We provide them with training followed by milk and then we engage them in studies.

Sport is a leveller

One of the things that struck me about the event was how much of a leveler sport can be – with everyone in their kit, there was no distinguishing how rich or poor any individual or country is – they were all just regular kids kicking a ball around. Comment from Charlotte Bray:

What I got out of volunteering at the Homeless World Cup

To be honest, I applied to join the Thomson Financial team at this year’s Homeless World Cup because it was an opportunity to visit Copenhagen, somewhere I’d never been before. Once I got there though, and began to understand more about the Homeless World Cup and what it achieves, being in Copenhagen became secondary to me; I felt honored to be a part of the team and wanted to use my time there doing as much as possible to help.
