Czech Republic (4) v (3) Namibia

Czech Republic (4) v (3) Namibia

By Tom Lyons

The game between Namibia and Czech started positively in an open contest with plenty of opportunities for both sides.

Namibia scored first from a penalty, no.7 wrong-footing the big Czech goalkeeper.  An opportunistic goal from Czech’s  Petr Jech made it 1-1 soon after.

Despite balls constantly whistling over the cross bar and into both goalkeeper’s hands, the deadlock wasn’t broken until late in the first half.  A great turn and finish from Namibia’s  Geil Zenobia Gowases set fed square alight and put Namibia 2-1 at halftime.

Namibia conceded immediately in the second half after an unlucky rebound off a defender.

Through more great play, Namibia’s Geil Zenobia Gowases had several opportunities to take the lead again, but was unable to put the ball past the Czech goalkeeper.

Against the flow, Czech managed one from a corner roll, the ball screaming across the Namibian goalkeeper and hitting the back of the opposite corner net.

With Namibia 4-2 down and only one minute remaining, they looked a chance to level the game after several close chances.  They managed one at the death but lost 4-3.
