Czech Rep v Russia

Czech Rep (5) v Russia (7)

The match between Russia and the Czech Republic was a clash of unequals with some intense but rare moments of surprise. From the start Russia made it clear  that it was very serious about getting a chance to battle for the Copenhagen Trophy, one of the recognitions  teams can compete for at the  Homeless World Cup 2007.

At first it looked like the game would yield a show as the teams seemed on equal standing in terms of determination and energy. Russia scored its first goal by the end of the first minute of the game, repeating the trick a minute later, but not before the Czech Republic had scored its own first goal.

The game seemed to have heated  when the Czech Republic scored again and once  but its lead was a short-lived one as Russia scored three more times by the end of the first half.

The second half was essentially a Russian show even if one of its players  was expelled for two minutes.

In spite of an increasingly tired-looking game, the Czechs bagged two  ore goals, but did not managed to brifge the gap between  itself and its rival, which in the meantime had scored once again ending a match which  has started with what seemed a potential for coup de theatre  but had increasingly become a game of superiority slapping down determination  dogged by a lack of expertise.
