Cameroon v South Africa

Cameroon (7) v South Africa (1)

Before the game both teams shook hands and waved their flags in solidarity, boding well for a fair and exciting game.

With both Cameroon and South Africa going into this game off the back of convincing victories this proved to be a hot contest between the two African nations. As the match started it was clear that the South African goalkeeper was not going to be easy to beat. Thulani Magopeni leaped and jumped high and wide, displaying instant reactions and a stunning athletic ability. The play was technically impressive, with both teams playing attractive football, juggling between each other and having audacious shots from all over the park. After 4 minutes of end-to-end football the deadlock was finally broken by Mkoundja, the Cameroon captain. The South African number 8 got one back but Cameroon's number 7 made it 2-1 going in to half time. An extremely tight half with entertaining football for all those lucky enough to catch the game in the packed stands.

As the second half began the play became more frenzied as the players tried to keep up with the high pace of the first half. Defences became more stretched and Cameroon showed thei stamina by scoring 3 through Abona, taking the score to 5-1. South Africa had a host of chances but fatigue started to show and they were missed or saved by the Cameroon keeper. Not content with his 4 goals already, Abona scored another to help the final score to 7-1, supplying an emphatic victory for Cameroon. A tight game in the first half, but the second half saw the floodgates open. A wonderful example of skill and fair play.
