MARIA Frasqueri Bogado set Melbourne Pitch alight with a dazzling first half display as Paraguay cruised to a 10-0 victory against a determined Cameroon.
Opening the scoring with a sharp left foot strike and continuing with a cheeky toe-poke, Maria wasted no time in putting in a bid for fastest hat-trick of the tournament when she tapped her third in with less than three minutes on the clock.
The best was yet to come, however, as the Paraguayan striker finished the half with a thunderous half volley before wriggling free of her marker to score her seventh.
Eight goals behind at the break the Cameroon women had little to play for but to their credit they stepped up the intensity in the second half and troubled their opponents with their physical pressure. One crunching tackle from a Cameroon defender confirmed that the Africans are still a force to be reckoned with despite having failed to secure a win so far.
Paraguay showed enough composure to keep a clean sheet thanks in no small part to Noelia Borges who marshalled her side's defence throughout the match and finished with two goals.
The win moves Paraguay up to fifth while Cameroon remain rooted to the bottom of the table.
