Brazil v Germany

Brazil (9) v Germany (3)

The surface took on all the characteristics of an ice-skating rink which somewhat spoiled what could have been a quite intriguing encounter between Germany and Brazil. The samba legends handled the conditions better in the opening minutes and quickly established a four goal lead without reply. Germany clung on - when they weren't slipping over - and grabbed two back on the break.

The Ghanaian band was joined by spectators and a few members of the Italian squad. They started a drum beating competition with German supporters in the opposite stand and were clearly winning hands down which meant poor old Germany couldn't find any rhythm on or off the pitch.

Meanwhile, Brazil went merrily on its way in the last game here on Pitch One, slotting in another five to Germany's one. The last three minutes resembled penguins on ice as no-one could keep their footing.
