Austria defeated France today in a closely fought struggle on the baking Yarra pitch today.

Austria didn't waste any time, taking the first goal within 30 seconds.

France had plenty of shots at goal but the Austrian keeper was like a fire blanket extinguishing any flames of French hope.

France's Hardy Bangura showed superb ball skills which had the Austrians worried, and Austrian player Orhan Yildrim looked dangerous in offence.

Bangura ended up on the ground after a collision after a header, and things were looking glum, but he picked himself up and got back into the game.

Lofty french forward Boudallaye Konate netted a goal before the half time whistle, bringing the score to a tense 1-1 going into the break.

Austria took control of the match after the break, controlling the ball superbly with the powerhouse Yildrim taking a slam at goals from the halfway line to inch ahead to 2-1.

Austria's Serkan Yavus netted the next goal to give Austria a two goal lead, and Gerhard Fasching made the most of a stray ball to pelt it decisively into the top of the net to end the game 4-1.By Author name
