Australia (3) v (10) Nigeria

Australia (3) v (10) Nigeria

Nigeria has kept its unbeaten record intact with an impressive 10-3 victory over a determined Australian outfit.

Lukmon Jimoh and Oluwadum Yakub starred on the African side, scoring four and three goals respectively as Nigeria extended its lead at the top of the Group B table.

Not intimidated by the strong contingent of Australian fans in the stands, the Nigerians looked the stronger side early and had two goals on the board within the opening three minutes.

But the Australian side was determined to give the home crowd something to cheer about.

Precision passing followed by a composed strike from star player Eddy Halid reduced the deficit to just one goal as the supporters erupted into cheers.

Inspired football from both teams ensured a spectacular end to the first half, with Nigeria scoring a further three goals and reaffirming itself as a serious 2008 Homeless World Cup contender.

A second Australian goal, this time to Coen Slaughter, sent the Street Socceroos into the break full of spirit but Nigeria's class prevailed in the second half, and five goals to one sealed the emphatic win.
