GHANA has taken down Australia on its home turf, winning 7-2.
Eddy Halid scored the first goal of the game for Australia, but Ghana was swift to respond, with Richard Storm Saban equalising within seconds.
Australian pocket rocket Stevie Maloney played an excellent game, not letting any opportunity pass him by. With Ghana in possession of the ball, Maloney stole the ball with some quick footwork.
Ghana gained a lead of 3-1 in the first half, and was seemingly at ease in comparison to the frantic attack displayed by the Aussies.
Australian attacker Coen Slaughter was injured early in the second half, which ended the game for him.
Ghana paid close attention to the ball and passed between players with precision. They were able to set up several shots at goal but the Australian goalkeeper, Lorenso Neghad, was more than up to the task, blocking shot after shot.
Although the vocal crowd threw their support behind Australia, Ghana was too efficient.
Prince Boadu's ball skills expertise that helped Ghana through to a considerable win.
The teams were both in high spirits after the game, dancing together and sharing a group hug.
The win is the first for Ghana in Group B, while Australia remains winless.
