In a tight start to this game the opening two minutes proved to be something of a goal drought, with Wales enjoying the majority of the possession but unable to capitalize on their chances. The deadlock was finally broken after 3 and a half minutes by the Welsh number 12 who showed his delight by rousing the strong Wales support with a celebration scream. Rolando proved dangerous for Argentina, going close several times but unable to score going into the break. Good football by both teams but a slender lead for Wales. 1-0 at half time.
Wales had the run of the play and a touch of luck in going 3-0 up, with the Wales goalkeeper working hard for his clean sheet. Argentina went close but couldn't put any past the Welsh goalie, and the score ended 4-0 to the boys in red.
