Argentina v USA
Argentina (4) v USA (6)
The Argentina side tried a novel method of gathering support from the packed house at the Town Hall Square pitches - throwing out free bags of loose tea from the mountains in the north of their country. It could have backfired - the kids thought they were grabbing bags of sweets - but the South American goalkeeper was on the boil, blasting towards the USA goal and watching as his opposite number fumbled into the net for the opener.
The Americans though are a powerful and athletic side, full of strong running and committed defending. They quickly equalised then moved in front as first the No.11 then the No.5 exploited some slow Argentinian defending. Argentina's keeper kept his side in it at times, saving two penalties among other heroics. But the pressure started to tell as the USA's superior fitness become more and more crucial.
The Argentines got their way back to 4-4 with just moments left but as a fleet of Harley Davidson motorbikes roared their engines next to the pitch - and as the US ambassador rolled in expecting to be congratulating a victorious team - the Americans struck. No.5 and No.3 blasting home to secure a semi final against Austria later today.
