Annual Event

We celebrate the whole year round work of our National Partners by running an annual international football tournament for homeless people. It is a world class event held in a global city centre.

Each annual tournament is held in the centre of a major international city and we use the event to show the public, politicians and tourists a very different view of homeless people.

We demonstrate very clearly the impact that has been made through using football as a tool out of homelessness. 90% of spectators say that watching the tournament positively changes their views on homeless people and homelessness.

The Homeless World Cup annual event started in Graz, Austria 2003 and welcomed 18 National Teams. It was followed by Gothenburg 2004; Edinburgh 2005; Cape Town 2006; Copenhagen 2007; Melbourne 2008; Milan 2009; Rio de Janeiro 2010; Paris 2011 and the 10th edition in 2012 will take place in Mexico City.
